forever house!

from my favorite movie

are you in your forever house? me? well, i am in a house that i am thankful for! its new, beautiful, home but i dont feel its my "forever" house! and i am letting it get to me. i want my forever house so my children can grow up there and then where my grandchildren will come visit! my children are growing up so fast and i am feeling the pressure of finding that forever house. however, the economy has different plans. so, i sit and wait. and with this waiting i feel i cannot do any changes to my house. i kinda feel like its not my house. sorta like renting. ugh. i have grand plans for this forever house!

  1. Hi Julie - I found your blog through my good friend, Nancy, at The Goat and the Kid.

I believe that I am in my forever house. Is it my dream home? No. Does it provide everything we need? Yes! My hubby and I claim that we'll stay here until we head to the old folks home.

    Have a great day!

  2. i feel the same way sometimes.. we are in a great house, but my eyes still "wander", and i have a hard time making permanent changes to the house we have now.. but i am truly grateful for the hardwoking husband i have, so i know i will have a place to lay my head at night.. just stay optimistic that one day you will find your dream home!!

  3. Ah, girl, I am in the same boat. Been waiting for a new house for 3 years now, it'll happen someday, for now I'm just practicing patience. Which is hard, but it's all i've got.

  5. You know what.. I don't know. I am very content here. Is it perfect? Can I get a "no way!" So many projects to transform this joint into something more snazzy. But, I love it. I could see myself in it for a long time. (with some changes, of course) But, the love in here can go anywhere. My neighborhood is rad and I have made it from a house into a home. That is the main thing.
By the way, the house you pictured... my goodness, I love that house. Father of the Bride. One of the best movies EVER! :)

  6. I know exactly how you feel. I hated renting back in the day because I couldn't make it my own. My husband and I were blessed enough to buy our first home and transform it into our dream and forever home. So my heart goes out to you. It is frustrating when you are a creative person and your home is your canvas. Pray!
Pray for God to provide the forever home he wants you and your family to be in. It worked for me. ;)
We love our home and wouldn't sell it for the world. But, while you wait, remember home is where you make it. ;)

  7. I completely understand how you are feeling. I use to always think of my "forever house" and realized rather quickly that I'm a long way from it because of my husbands career....military service takes us to different places. we have been in our currant home longer than any other home and i have no idea what the future holds for us... so I have trained myself to focus on this one..

  8. I couldn't agree more...I used to feel the same way - not sure if this was my forever house...but I had a revelation a few months ago and I decided that it doesn't matter...I'm going to do what I want to this house based on what I love and not what is best for resale value...I want to love my home, not just like it! Hopefully it will all work out in the end...

  9. that's how it was for me in my last house. I kept not wanting to spend money on it cause it's not where I wanted to live in my heart. Now I'm where I want to be and it's "game on!" when it comes to remodeling. :) I still think about moving sometimes when the weather gets to me but Jeanne and Becky told me I could never move. :)

  10. We are not in our forever house... every time I think we are...I'm wrong... I long for our forever house... I know it's out there somewhere.... I hope...

Your house looks like the one from "Father of the Bride"...

p.s. I know how you feel, I know that we probably won't have that forever house for a very long time! I however have lived in a barn, old mobile homes, shacks, and now a nicer new modular home. My husband is a horse trainer & we have had some interesting circumstances, lets put it that way. I decided a long time ago that I don't care what kind of home I live in, I was going to make it our home. I never thought I would be living in such places, I thought we were going to get married and live in this cute house. Well that hasn't been the case most of my married life. (I do live in a nice modular home now, that has felt like a mansion to me) Every house we have lived in, even the barn I got my paint brush out and decided to try and create a home that I could call home. And you know what it has been a lot of fun, trying to turn those homes into the house of my dreams. I have used a lot of WHITE paint in my lifetime. I am not sure I will ever get to own the house of my dreams, but I am glad I decided that I am not going to wait for that to happen, because it might be never.
Have a wonderful DAY! Thanks again for the beautiful platter, and I think your blog is so cute!!!!

  15. I love this! You made me smile with this post. I am not in my "forever house", just my "for a long time house". Just trying to make it as close to my dream house as possible without knocking the walls down:-)
